Abstract

Pasolini's Decameron (1970) is not only a masterpiece in history of cinema, but also an important document of reading and interpreting Boccaccio's work in contemporary culture, and it is important to study the metamorphosis of the text through all passages, from Boccaccio to 'Trattamento' and 'Sceneggiatura'. On of the main changes is surely the 'translation' of Decameron from the original context (Florence and Tuscany) to a Mediterranean one, Naples and Southern Italy (and, in a lost episode, the story of Alibech, also the Middle East, the desert of Yemen and the fantastic architecture of Sana'a).
