Abstract

An overview of the knowledge, the acquisitions and the problems linked to Roman Late Republican painting, with a particular attention to the plaster technique in houses. This new technique came out with other innovations in Roman domestic culture, particularly a considerable increase of luxury. The current study focuses on various aspects, as the craftmen training and their repertories; materials and symbolic use of colours.
