Abstract

The article describes two illuminated Persian codices preserved in the collection of the Giorgio Cini Foundation of Venice. The earliest is a copy of the Xamsa di Niẓāmī of Ganja copied in Shiraz in 1624-1625 and illustrated by twenty-four large miniatures. The second codex, illustrated by twenty-six colour miniatures, is a copy of the Yusuf u Zalīxā by ‘Abd al- Raḥmān Jāmī that may be attributed to the Kashmiri school of the first decades of the 19th century.
