Each translation, when considered as the result of a negotiation process (cfr. Eco 2003) involves a fragile balance between loss and gain. Since translator’s choices can reveal or shut some of the interpretative paths of the original, the textual-linguistic analysis seems to offer useful insights into both texts for considering the translation process and its costs. Some of the interpretative paths, in fact, are not self-evident in the original text but can easily emerge through the observation of its coherence, cohesion and informativity. Observing such elements and their linguistic treatment in the translated version, the mentioned paths seem to be vanished in the translation process, causing a loss in its adequacy (cfr. De Mauro, 1994).
